Data Engineer in Leeds

Upto £60,000 | Leeds | Hybrid (2 days in the office)

The opportunity

This is a hands-on Senior Data Engineer role for someone who enjoys building things properly.

You’ll be joining a growing data team responsible for designing, building, and evolving a cloud-based data platform that supports analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision making across the business.

The focus is on robust engineering, scalability, and quality – not throwaway pipelines.

You’ll work with large, complex datasets, shape data models, and help move the platform forward using modern data engineering practices in AWS. There’s also a strong emphasis on ownership, mentoring others, and influencing how data engineering is done going forward.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and building scalable data pipelines and architectures in AWS
• Owning data engineering development and change initiatives end to end
• Developing and maintaining cloud data platforms, data models, and ELT/ETL pipelines
• Working closely with analysts, BI, and wider engineering teams to understand data needs
• Ensuring high standards around data quality, performance, security, and compliance
• Supporting CI/CD for data pipelines and reducing technical debt

This is a role where you’re trusted to make technical decisions, not just take tickets.

What they’re looking for

• Strong experience as a Data Engineer in a cloud environment
• Solid hands-on experience with AWS data services (e.g. S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Lake Formation, Step Functions)
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Python / Spark / Pandas
• Experience building data warehouses or data lakes
