We're supporting a client in a regulated environment looking to engage an experienced Python (Django) contractor to work on a legacy system improvement project. This role will involve working on an established platform, helping to modernise and improve performance, while ensuring stability across a live environment.

The Role

You'll be joining a small team to support the ongoing development and enhancement of an existing Django-based system, with a focus on upgrades, stability, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

  • Work on an existing Django application
  • Support upgrades and general system improvements
  • Help optimise performance and reliability
  • Contribute to API development and backend services
  • Support testing, deployment, and release activities

Experience Required

  • Strong experience with Python & Django
  • Background working on existing / legacy systems
  • Solid understanding of databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
  • Experience building or maintaining APIs
  • Familiarity with modern development practices (Docker, CI/CD, testing)
