We’re working with a well-established B2B energy provider with a national footprint and a large operational customer base. The business is going through a wider shift in how it delivers data to its internal teams, moving away from legacy waterfall-style reporting to a more agile, product-led model. With growing volumes of customer, market and operational data, they’re investing in both people and modern tooling (Power BI, modern DWH structures) to support smarter reporting and future self-serve capability.
As a senior, you’ll be responsible for mentoring MI Analysts, improving how operational reporting is delivered, and playing a key role in translating existing SQL-based reports into modern star-schema structures. You'll work across retail operations, smart metering, customer support, and market interaction, delivering insights that directly impact B2B customer performance and experience.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting and coaching junior MI analysts through 1:1s and day-to-day leadership
- Owning the delivery of key operational reporting across smart meters, contact centres, faults, goodwill, and more
- Leading the transition of reporting from legacy SQL statements to new star schema models
- Building and optimising Power BI dashboards for improved speed, usability, and future self-serve functionality
- Collaborating with the business to deliver insights in line with agile ways of working (Jira, Scrum, Kanban)
- Helping lay the groundwork for AI-driven analytics, including integration with tools like Copilot
What we’re looking for:
- Strong SQL skills, especially in querying and transforming operational data
- Solid experience with Power BI, including DAX, data modelling, and report optimisation
- Experience coaching or mentoring junior analysts in a structured environment
- Bonus if you’ve been involved in data warehouse redesigns or schema transitions
Why this role?
This is a genuinely exciting time to join. The MI function has moved away from central transformation and now sits closely aligned to the business, giving you more influence and flexibility. There’s a strong appetite for change, senior buy-in for tech investment, and a long-term vision to create smart, scalable, and self-serve reporting that supports a complex B2B customer base.
