This role sits at the heart of the accounting operation. You will take responsibility for key areas of group reporting, lead complex workstreams, and act as a trusted sounding board for senior stakeholders across the business.
It is hands-on. You will still be close to the detail. But your real value comes from setting direction, raising standards, and helping others understand what "good" actually looks like.
What you will be doing:
- Owning and overseeing material areas of the month-end and year-end close
- Leading on complex accounting judgements and technical positions under IFRS
- Acting as a senior point of contact for audit, controls, and SOX-related matters
- Partnering with Product, Ops, Treasury, and Tech to translate activity into clear accounting outcomes
- Reviewing work, coaching others, and raising the overall quality bar
- Driving improvements to processes, controls, and ways of working as the business scales
- Taking ownership of projects where structure needs to be built, not inherited
What we are looking for:
- Strong background in audit (Big 4 / Top 10) and/or complex industry environments
- Deep, practical IFRS knowledge and confidence applying judgement
- Experience leading people, projects, or significant workstreams
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and pushing back when needed
- Someone who wants influence, accountability, and visibility, not a safe holding role
What this isn’t:
- Not a heavily layered finance function
- Not a role where everything is already defined
- Not a place to hide behind process or policy
This is for someone who wants to help build, lead, and shape. And is comfortable being relied on.
Package:
- Competitive base salary (c. £80,000–£90,000 depending on experience)
- Bonus and strong benefits
- Hybrid working. London-based
If you are an accounting leader who enjoys pace, ownership, and real responsibility, this will be worth a conversation.
