Core is a Microsoft Cloud Managed Service Partner, specialising in Microsoft 365 technology for people and businesses who want to realise modern workplace technology solutions to drive their business forward. We specialise in providing a wide range of services, solutions and software to optimise our clients’ Microsoft investments.
Core’s services support 30,000 users across 57 countries and growing. Right now we're looking for a Level 3 Infrastructure Engineer, specialising in Microsoft Azure. This will be essential in supporting the growth and maturity of our cloud operations. Core’s service portfolio spans public and private cloud infrastructure, M365, End User Compute, managed desktop and Security.
The successful candidate will primarily support cloud infrastructure but will have the opportunity to influence the improvement across all service lines. The cloud-centric nature of the role will require the postholder to develop and deploy repeatable, automated processes to help Core rapidly scale and mature our growing operational delivery.
This is a remote position; however, candidates must be permanent residents of the UK and must work remotely from within the UK.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Management, maintenance and optimisation of cloud infrastructure including Azure IaaS/PaaS and M365 platforms.
- Contribute to the creation of operational reference architectures across Azure IaaS, PaaS and M365 platforms.
- Ensure security best practices such as zero trust and least privilege access are embedded within operational practices.
- Support the remediation of infrastructure vulnerabilities aligned with Core’s CE+ and ISO27001 controls.
- Ensure operational processes are aligned with Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Act as an escalation point for the service desk and other resolver teams.
- Liaise with 3rd party vendors when required.
- Raising, managing, reviewing and releasing production changes.
- Provide leadership and mentoring.
Requirements:
We’re looking for an Azure all-rounder with industry experience, but the main Azure skills we're interested in are:
- Virtual Machine management
- Azure Virtual Desktop
- Windows Server OS
- SQL PaaS and SQL Managed Instance
- Azure Front Door & CDN
- Application Gateway w/ WAF
- Virtual Networking including VPN and Express Route
- Azure Firewall
- Azure Automation (preferable)
- Azure Sentinel (preferable)
- Any automated deployment – Terraform, BICEP (not currently in-use but we’d like to move to these)
- Linux (RedHat, CentOS)
Additionally, the successful candidate should have:
- Proven collaboration and analytical skills to proactively drive customers’ end user technology forward.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting.
- Broad understanding of networking technology and principles.
- Knowledge of security practices and the implementation of tools that provide MFA, DLP, Proxy services, encryption, event logging and alerting.
- Prior experience of working for a Managed Services Provider.
