The Role
Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical building services designs from concept through to completion. You will be involved in a wide variety of projects, including hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and other highly regulated environments. This is a hybrid role, with two days per week in the Bolton office and the remainder working from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation and domestic water services.
- Produce design calculations, specifications, reports and technical drawings.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, architects and project teams to deliver coordinated designs.
- Attend client and design team meetings.
- Support projects through all RIBA stages from concept to completion.
- Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards.
- Assist with site inspections and technical support during construction where required.
About You
- Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within Building Services.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services design.
- Experience working on healthcare, pharmaceutical, laboratory or other technically complex environments would be highly advantageous.
- Proficiency with industry design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and relevant calculation packages.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Working towards or already achieved Chartered status (desirable but not essential).
