AWS DevOps Engineer – Hybrid (Manchester / Newcastle / London) – 6 Month Contract – Move to Cloud Programme
Hybrid: Primarily Remote | Onsite 1–2 Days per Week (Manchester, Newcastle, or London)

About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading public sector technology programme, is seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to support the High‑Level Design (HLD) and prototyping phase of a large‑scale Cloud Migration initiative. You will play a critical role in modernising a major database platform as part of a strategic move to AWS. This is a high‑visibility transformation project focused on cloud‑native architecture, automation, and containerisation. This engagement offers strong technical exposure, meaningful impact, and the opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimise CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD (GitOps approach) and Helm
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Support containerisation and migration of legacy batch workloads into Kubernetes environments
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to enhance build, deployment, and operational workflows
- Maintain version control systems, artifact registries, and pipeline integrations
- Ensure AWS environments align with best practices for security, scalability, and reliability
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven DevOps engineering experience in cloud‑first environments
- Hands‑on expertise with:
- GitLab CI/CD
- ArgoCD
- Helm
- Terraform
- Kubernetes
Mandatory: Minimum 5 years continuous UK residency requirement.
