We are seeking a senior, highly experienced leader to drive the national growth and long‑term success of our NHS Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy (SACT) homecare services. This is a strategic, outward‑facing role focused on strengthening our position as a trusted partner to NHS providers and commissioners, while ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centred cancer care. You will shape and deliver the organisation’s SACT growth strategy, identify and secure new NHS business, and build strong, influential relationships across NHS Trusts, cancer alliances, and commissioning bodies. This role offers a rare opportunity to build a national service from the ground up — defining the strategy, leading market engagement, and driving new initiatives that support streamlined cancer pathways. This is a national role requiring regular travel and proactive, face‑to‑face engagement with NHS stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
- Strategic Growth & Business Development – Lead the development and delivery of the NHS SACT homecare growth strategy, driving service expansion, strengthening market position, and enabling long‑term commercial success.
- Contract Acquisition & Retention – Identify, pursue, and secure new NHS SACT contracts. Build a strong pipeline, lead bids, and take opportunities “over the line” to establish a sustainable national service.
- Relationship Management – Act as the senior relationship lead for NHS SACT services, building trusted partnerships with NHS Trusts, commissioners, cancer services leaders, and key decision‑makers.
- Commercial Performance Leadership – Oversee and optimise the commercial performance of SACT services, ensuring profitability, operational excellence, and alignment with organisational goals.
- Market Insight & Opportunity Identification – Monitor NHS policy, cancer pathway developments, funding mechanisms, and commissioning trends to identify opportunities and shape strategic direction.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Service Improvement – Work closely with internal teams – including clinical, operational, and leadership colleagues – to support service design, communicate new initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Senior‑level experience within the NHS, cancer pathways, or cancer services
- A clinical background (pharmacy or nursing preferred)
- Strong understanding of NHS funding, commissioning, and cancer service delivery
- Established relationships across NHS Trusts and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Proven success in business development, particularly securing NHS contracts
- Strategic thinking with the ability to build a service from the ground up
- Confidence working nationally and engaging face‑to‑face with NHS partners
- Ability to collaborate internally and communicate the impact of new initiatives
A DBS check may be required for this role.
