We are currently recruiting for an experienced LGV / Plant Engineering Mechanic to join a well-established operation within the forestry, logistics, and heavy transport sector. This is a key hands-on engineering position responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the reliability of a mixed fleet of HGVs, LGVs, and plant equipment operating in a high-demand, time-critical environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in keeping vehicles operational, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous site activity across a 24/7 operational network.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HGVs and plant equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Complete safety inspections and ensure all vehicles meet DVSA compliance standards
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair requirements when needed
- Work across a range of heavy vehicles and specialist plant machinery
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation
- Support operational uptime across a busy transport and logistics fleet
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and site teams to ensure efficiency
Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- Proven experience working with HGVs / LGVs / heavy goods vehicles
