The Quality & Compliance Lead (QCL) is responsible for establishing and embedding a company-wide quality and compliance framework, ensuring consistent, scalable, and effective ways of working across the organisation. The role requires a strong foundation in enterprise-wide quality assurance across engineering, operations, IT, and corporate functions, and involves defining and tracking quality metrics, creating compliance reports, and driving continuous improvement through structured feedback loops from other employees and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Building & implementing the organisation’s quality and compliance programme
- Developing and supporting the implementation of quality standards, procedures and specifications for the company, including defining these from first principles when needed
- Reviewing existing procedures to ensure they meet current guidelines and align with wider business needs
- Defining, selecting, and implementing a Quality Management System (QMS) and/or Document Management System (DMS) that supports document control, configuration management, and scalable adoption across the organisation
- Maintaining documentation for quality assurance processes and procedural changes to the QMS
- Gathering feedback on quality assurance processes and collaborating across departments to ensure consistency and usability
- Preparing progress and quality metrics reports for relevant stakeholders
- Collaborating with external vendors and suppliers to ensure quality standards are met
- Ensuring all processes meet national and/or international standards
- Monitoring and inspecting the company’s compliance with implemented quality standards and promoting continuous improvement processes
- Identifying training requirements and fostering a quality-focused culture
- Liaising with stakeholders, designers, classification societies, regulators, and nuclear technology developers to maintain required quality standards and comply with evolving requirements
- Developing and evolving compliance frameworks aligned with the organisation’s quality programme, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and regulatory requirements
- Establishing and maintaining effective data and records management practices, ensuring information is stored, controlled, and retained consistently, securely, and auditable
- Acting as a facilitator to all teams in the QA process, providing support and coaching to drive quality
Job Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance implementation
- Experience in an engineering or technical environment preferred
- Experience in rolling out a Quality Assurance programme
- Experience in training others in all aspects of QA across all levels
