Independently performs more complex petrochemical inspection of vessel, rail/road cars or shore tanks according to precisely predefined procedures. Inspection relates to measurement of petrochemical fluids (may include dry cargo for certain locations) and taking samples for laboratory analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Proactively carries out activities in accordance with individual client instructions, Saybolt Standard procedures, Global Safety Manual, risk assessment, local standards/safety rules and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company policies.
- Attends training and passes appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas inspection procedures, hazardous materials transportation and other safety training required by applicable regulations.
- Performs visual cleanliness inspection of vessel, rail/road cars or shore tanks.
- Verifies the accuracy of measurement equipment and maintains equipment in proper working order.
- Determines quantity by measuring physical fluid bulk, density, temperature and metering.
- Performs sampling of petrochemical fluids as per international or other standards and their correct labeling and storage.
- Independently completes (free form) inspection reports on the computer.
- Provides training and coaching for lower-level Inspectors.
- Performs additional duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to operational excellence.

Qualifications
- Minimum high school / secondary education or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year experience as Inspector III.
- IFIA Certified Inspector of Petroleum or equivalent.
- Advanced knowledge of Petrochemical products, chemicals or other liquid cargo.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations (e.g. compute flow rate, ratio, percentage, quantities – linear, volumetric or weight – and geometrical calculations).

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The job requires employees to inspect tanks which include working at heights and confined spaces. Employees should be mobile (walk, climb, carry), rely on senses (sight, talk, hear, smell) and be able to lift items up to 20 kg (or in accordance with local regulations). The employee will be required to work irregular hours / shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays) and work away from their base office.
