SUMMARY
Conducts entry level sampling activities on board vessels, rail/road cars, or shore tanks following precisely predefined procedures. The primary responsibility involves collecting samples of petrochemical fluids, and in certain regions, dry cargo, and ensuring their secure transportation to a laboratory for analysis. This role is critical in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of sample data, supporting quality control, and ensuring compliance with client and industry standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform sampling activities in strict accordance with individual client instructions, Saybolt Standard procedures, Global Safety Manual, risk assessments, local standards, safety rules, and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company policies.
- Attend training sessions and pass examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection procedures, hazardous materials transportation, and other safety training as required by applicable regulations.
- Conduct entry-level sampling activities on board vessels, rail/road cars, or shore tanks.
- Ensure accurate labeling and storage of samples, including product description, means of storage, time of sampling, and name of Inspector.
- Guarantee secure and timely storage and transportation of samples.
- Assist more senior Inspectors with their inspection tasks as required, providing support to ensure efficient and accurate completion of assignments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to operational excellence.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum high school / secondary education or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year’s work experience with a service-oriented organisation preferred.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations (e.g., compute flow rate, ratio, percentage, quantities—linear, volumetric, or weight—and geometrical calculations).
- Valid driving license and satisfactory driving record.

- Good communication skills, both written and verbal and be able to manage stakeholders at all levels.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The job requires employees to inspect tanks which include working at heights and confined spaces. Employees should be mobile (walk, climb, carry), rely on senses (sight, talk, hear, smell) and be able to lift items up to 20 kg (or in accordance with local regulations). The employee will be required to work irregular hours / shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays) and work away from their base office.
