As a nationwide business, we have a number of fulfilling roles and we're often looking to expand our teams as we continue to grow. We currently have a vacancy for a HR Advisor on a Fixed Term Contract which will run until the end of December 2026. Reporting in to the HR Business Partner, this role will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support on a range of HR matters including employee relations, policy development, and HR strategy.
This role will be a hybrid role based in our Torquay office however there is the possibility that our office location will change over the next few months so flexibility within the Devon area is a must.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, providing advice and guidance to managers and employees.
- Support and advise on employee relations issues, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance matters.
- Support organisational change through advising on restructures and redundancy process.
- Identify and escalate possible risk to the HR Business Partner.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment legislation.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on best HR practices and people management.
- Record notifications of maternity leave and work with HR Assistant to ensure risk assessments have been completed and maternity dates are formalised with payroll.
- Support with sending communications, for example pay review letters.
- Support HR Assistant in the investigation processes including but not limited to absence, AWOL and breach of PPE policy.
- Maintain the people case log and run adhoc people reports from the HR system.
- Maintain right to work log to ensure we fulfil our legal obligations with regards to time limited work visas.
- Assist in continually improving the service delivery of the HR team through improved training content, proactive case work support and raising suggestions for improvement to the HRBP and Head of HR.
- Contribute to HR projects such as employee engagement initiatives, wellbeing programmes, and diversity and inclusion strategies as required.
- Keep up to date with employment law and industry best practices, making recommendations where necessary.
- Effective resolution of employee relations issues (e.g., grievances, disciplinary actions, performance management) with minimal escalation and a positive employee experience.
- Timely and legally compliant handling of all HR cases to mitigate risks to the organisation.
- Improved employee satisfaction and reduced workplace conflicts through proactive support and advice.
- Managers are effectively supported in handling performance issues and development plans.
- Successful implementation of HR projects, such as restructuring or diversity initiatives.
- Previous experience in an HR role, ideally as an HR Advisor or Senior HR Assistant.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience handling employee relations issues with confidence and professionalism.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards).
- A degree in HR, Business, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
- Salary of £35,895.50 pro rata.
