We are a growing mechanical contractor renowned for its expertise in the air conditioning sector. With a number of full mechanical projects recently awarded, we are expanding our estimating team to support continued growth. While air conditioning remains our core focus, we are actively broadening our presence in full mechanical services.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to take ownership of our estimating function. This is a genuine opportunity to shape and develop the estimating department, introduce new procedures, improve quoting processes, and influence how projects are priced and delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical projects, primarily air conditioning (approximately 70% of work), with exposure to full mechanical works (30%)
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Produce detailed take-offs, cost plans, and quotations
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing
- Identify value engineering opportunities and commercial risks
- Produce reports on tender activity, pricing trends, and success rates
- Analyse estimating data to support commercial decision-making and bid strategy
- Develop, improve, and standardise estimating procedures
- Work closely with Directors on bid strategy, pricing, and commercial decisions
About You:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator (minimum 2–3 years)
- Strong background in air conditioning projects (essential)
- Experience or interest in full mechanical services is highly desirable
- Commercially aware with excellent attention to detail
- Confident producing reports and analysing estimating data
- Able to work independently and manage your own workload
- Comfortable reporting directly into Directors and contributing at a senior level
- Motivated to build, improve, and take ownership of an estimating department
