An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Test & Quality Engineer to join an established M&E contractor delivering a major commercial and industrial project in Central London, based around St Paul’s. This role will play a key part in ensuring electrical installations are delivered, tested, inspected, and handed over to the required quality, technical, and compliance standards. Working closely with the project delivery and site teams, the Electrical Test & Quality Engineer will be responsible for overseeing electrical testing and quality processes throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring works are completed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, regulations, and project requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical professional looking to work on a high-profile Central London project within a technically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate electrical testing and quality activities across the project.
  • Inspect electrical installations to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee electrical testing and inspection activities.
  • Prepare and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), check sheets, and quality documentation.
  • Review test results, certificates, inspection records, and commissioning documentation.
  • Identify, record, and monitor defects, non-conformances, and quality issues.
  • Work closely with electrical subcontractors to ensure works are completed to the required standard.
  • Coordinate testing and inspection activities with site teams, consultants, project managers, and commissioning teams.
  • Ensure all electrical works comply with relevant regulations, standards, and project specifications.
  • Review electrical drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and inspection documentation.
  • Support the testing and commissioning of electrical systems through to project completion.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, defects, and corrective actions.
  • Assist with the preparation and completion of handover and O&M documentation.
  • Attend quality and technical meetings and provide updates on testing and quality performance.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, Site Managers, and subcontractors to resolve technical and quality issues.
  • Identify potential quality concerns early and support the implementation of corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Test & Quality Engineer, Electrical QA/QC Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or similar role within the construction or M&E sector.
  • Strong electrical engineering background with experience on commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Practical experience in electrical inspection, testing, commissioning, and quality control.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installations and relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience with ITPs, inspection records, test certificates, NCRs, and quality documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to quality and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, consultants, engineers, and site teams.
  • Experience working on major Central London projects would be advantageous.
  • Relevant electrical qualification or equivalent industry experience.

  • Salary: £65,000–£75,000, depending on experience.
