Job Description

Secondary Teacher

Job Type: Temporary

Duration: 3 months

Location: Chester

Salary: £150 – £280 per day

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4pm

Core Education are seeking dynamic, experienced Secondary Teachers to cover sickness and maternity for our partnering schools in Chester. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire pupils through engaging lesson planning and delivery covering your specialist subject (English, Maths, Science, Food Technology, Geography, IT and PE). The roles are full-time/long-term and start September 2025.

Secondary Teacher: Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Taking the class register
  • Plan and deliver exciting, inclusive lessons (please note – some planning may already have been done, if short term cover is required)
  • Set homework and mark work
  • Be part of a vibrant and supportive staff team who are committed to high standards and pupil wellbeing.
  • Make a real difference by promoting positive values, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles into every lesson.
  • Contribute to a school where innovation, inclusivity, and holistic education are value.
  • Delivering differentiated lessons to include all learner styles and abilities.
  • Provide support to students in the classroom who need extra assistance with their work.

Secondary Teacher Requirements / Experience and Qualifications:

  • Qualified teacher status, PGCE in Secondary education or equivalent
  • Previous experience teaching in a Secondary school or private school setting
  • Previous experience planning and delivering, differentiated, innovative and informative lessons
  • A DBS on the update service or be willing to have a new one processed
  • Able to provide professional references to cover the last two years of work
  • Able to start work in September 2025
