About the role
My client is looking for a fully qualified electrician to join our growing business in Aberdeen, with experience or an interest in CCTV installation and associated systems.
This is a hands‑on role involving electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and CCTV installation across domestic, commercial and manufacturing environments. You will work within a close‑knit team to ensure installations are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
The role would suit an experienced electrician who also has an interest in, or experience of, CCTV and associated systems.
Key responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair electrical equipment, wiring, motors, panels and control systems.
- Install, configure and commission CCTV systems and associated electrical components.
- Carry out electrical testing, inspection and fault finding using appropriate meters and diagnostic equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical and CCTV faults and identify the underlying cause of equipment failures.
- Conduct planned inspections and preventive maintenance to help minimise downtime.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings and manuals.
- Support the Director with planning jobs, including creating or developing schematics and diagrams where required.
- Document maintenance activities, test results, installations and repairs accurately.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical regulations, safety standards and company procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the Director, engineers, electricians and other technicians on installations, repairs and projects.
- Support upgrades, modifications and retrofits of existing electrical and CCTV systems.
- Maintain a professional approach when working on customer sites and represent the business positively.
- Fully qualified electrician with the relevant qualifications and certification required for the role. For example SJIB-recognised qualification, SVQ Level 3, 18th Edition and any required ECS/SJIB card or grading, or approved equivalent
- Minimum 1 year’s relevant experience in electrical installation, maintenance or troubleshooting.
- Experience working in domestic, commercial, industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work safely, independently and as part of a team.
- Good understanding of electrical theory, electrical safety and relevant regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical manuals.
- Good communication, organisation and time management skills.
- Ability to carry out the practical duties of the role, including lifting equipment, climbing ladders and working in a range of indoor and outdoor environments. Reasonable adjustments will be considered where appropriate.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Experience installing and configuring CCTV systems.
- Experience with CCTV networking, recording equipment and remote viewing systems.
- Knowledge of PLCs, automation or motor control systems.
- Experience creating or modifying electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience working in commercial, industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Additional relevant electrical, CCTV or manufacturer-specific training.

Working conditions
The role may involve working in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, including around machinery and in production facilities.
You will be required to follow appropriate safety procedures and use PPE where necessary. The role may involve working at height, lifting equipment and exposure to electrical hazards.
Occasional travel may be required, and overtime or on-call availability may be necessary depending on operational requirements. Any working arrangements will be subject to the company’s employment terms and applicable working time requirements.
