Working with a growing professional services business to hire an Assistant / Management Accountant into a supportive and well-structured finance team. This role reports directly into a highly regarded number one in finance, known for developing and mentoring individuals. It is an ideal opportunity for someone part-qualified or early in their career looking to step up and broaden their exposure across month-end, reporting, and commercial finance.

What you’ll be doing:
- Transactional & Controls: Overseeing purchase and sales ledger reviews, managing invoicing, expenses, and debt collection, bank postings and reconciliations, supporting VAT returns and ensuring controls are followed.
- Month-end & Reporting: Supporting preparation of monthly management accounts, posting journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation), balance sheet reconciliations, supporting cash flow forecasting and variance analysis.
- Budgets & Forecasting: Assisting with budgeting and forecasting cycles, supporting stakeholders with cost tracking, maintaining reporting timetables.
- Year-end & Projects: Supporting year-end processes and audit preparation, assisting with finance projects and system improvements.
What we’re looking for:
- Essential: 2-4+ years’ experience in a finance role, strong grounding in transactional finance and month-end, good Excel skills (PivotTables, Lookups), high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Desirable: Part-qualified (AAT / ACCA / CIMA), exposure to budgeting or commercial finance, experience with ERP systems, interest in systems, reporting, or Power BI.
Details: £35,000 - £45,000 salary (DOE), hybrid working - 2 days per week in Reading, reporting into an experienced and supportive Finance Director.
