We are a leading firm of solicitors acting for clients across the whole of the UK and several Overseas Territories. Our staff work in a friendly and professional manner to provide quality legal solutions for all our clients on a No Win No Fee basis. With extensive experience in military related injuries, Cordus Law assist veterans and active-duty service members secure the compensation and justice they deserve for the physical and emotional toll of their service with the Ministry of Defence. We are looking for talented, confident, hardworking and highly motivated individuals to join our firm.
The Role
- Managing a caseload made up of both pre and post litigated military claims
- Dealing with and assisting on more complex and higher value cases
- Corresponding with clients, insurers and other solicitors and liaising with Counsel and experts where appropriate
- Representing clients in Courts where required
- Analysing evidence and setting case strategies encompassing both technical and commercial considerations and advising clients accordingly
- Providing a timely, professional and high quality service to clients
- Where necessary interviewing witnesses and preparing witness statements
- Attending external meetings/hearings/appointments as required
- If required supervising and supporting other fee earners and support staff
- Keeping up to date with law and practice
- Complying with all company and regulatory policies and procedures, professional standards and any requirement set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
- Maintaining high standards of professional conduct while generating adequate practice income
Person Specification – experience and attributes required:
- Qualified Solicitor status with a current valid Practicing Certificate issued by the Solicitors Regulation Authority
- Experience of working on Ministry of Defence and/or Industrial Disease claims on both pre and post litigated claims is desirable; however, individuals with experience on PI/EL/PL post litigated claims will also be considered
- Interest in, and commitment to, the success of the firm and commercial awareness and a drive to succeed
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all dealings
- Able to deal sympathetically and appropriately with clients and to show empathy with them
- High levels of initiative and motivation, ability to work independently and work closely with other team members
- Ability to manage assigned tasks in an assertive, efficient and timely manner
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and keep calm under pressure
- IT literate and have working knowledge of case management software, ideally Proclaim
- Be flexible as working outside normal office hours may be required from time-to-time
