About Cordless
Cordless Consultants is an independent consultancy specialising in workplace technology and the built environment. We help occupiers, developers and project teams plan, design and deliver effective IT, audiovisual, building security and smart building solutions.
Our services span RIBA Stages 0–6 design and project management, plus a growing focus on technology assurance where others undertake the design, and post-occupancy support that helps clients get lasting value from their technology.
The opportunity
We are looking for a commercially minded and entrepreneurial individual to help accelerate Cordless' growth through new client relationships, stronger connections across the property and design community, compelling proposals and clear market messaging.
You will combine personal engagement and sound commercial judgement with practical use of AI and digital tools. You will help us identify opportunities earlier, engage prospects more effectively and improve the speed and quality of our sales and marketing work.
As Cordless continues to grow, this role offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and develop into a senior commercial leadership position.
Key responsibilities
1. Develop new business
- Identify, engage and qualify prospective clients, including occupiers and developers, and turn conversations into consultancy opportunities.
- Build sales plans across finance, legal and professional services, major corporates, FMCG and technology/AI businesses, while supporting growth in life sciences, higher education and experiential spaces.
- Understand client needs, buying processes, budgets and project timing; position the right Cordless services and support opportunities through to appointment.
2. Build relationships with project partners
- Develop relationships with project managers, architects, MEP consultants and other relevant property and construction partners.
- Build referral routes, secure introductions and position Cordless for early engagement on workplace, property and technology programmes..
3. Develop bids and proposals
- Coordinate responses to RFPs and other enquiries, reviewing requirements, deadlines and the strength of each opportunity with the Commercial Director.
- Work with technical colleagues to develop clear, tailored proposals, scopes, deliverables, programmes and fee/resource schedules.
- Maintain reusable bid content, case studies and team profiles; check accuracy, compliance, consistency and presentation before approval.
- Support presentations, clarifications and commercial discussions, and capture feedback to improve future bids.
- Help communicate Cordless's value in terms clients recognise: effective workplaces, reliable technology, reduced project risk and better operational outcomes.
- Develop messaging for occupiers, developers and project partners, covering design and project management, technology assurance and post-occupancy services.
- Create and coordinate LinkedIn content, case studies, capability materials, targeted campaigns and website content with colleagues and any external support.
- Use campaign responses and client feedback to refine content and generate useful commercial conversations.
5. Manage the pipeline in Salesforce
- Maintain accurate accounts, contacts, opportunities and activities, with clear ownership, next steps and follow-up dates.
- Keep opportunity values, stages, likely appointment dates and forecasts current; contribute to pipeline reviews and flag risks early.
6. Represent Cordless at events
- Attend relevant industry events, exhibitions and networking opportunities, with clear objectives and planned introductions.
- Follow up promptly and turn new contacts into ongoing relationships, meetings and qualified opportunities.
7. Advance our use of AI
- Use ChatGPT and other appropriate AI tools for market research, account preparation, relevant outreach, RFP analysis, proposal drafting and content development.
- Identify and trial repeatable workflows for research, follow-up and CRM administration; share useful methods with colleagues.
- Check sources, facts and outputs, protect confidential information and retain personal responsibility for the quality of work.
- Measure improvements in time saved, response quality and qualified opportunities, and recommend tools based on practical value.
What you will bring
Experience in business development or consultative sales, with evidence of generating and progressing opportunities for professional, technical or related services.
Confidence building relationships with senior client contacts and project professionals, in person and through targeted digital engagement.
Strong written communication and experience producing bids, proposals or persuasive commercial materials.
Commercial awareness, good organisation and the ability to manage priorities and deadlines with technical colleagues.
Experience maintaining a sales pipeline in a CRM, ideally Salesforce, and taking ownership of follow-up and forecasting.
Practical experience using AI tools in sales, marketing or research, with the ability to explain what has improved and how outputs were checked.
Curiosity about workplace technology and the ability to translate technical expertise into clear client benefits.
Experience in the built environment, consultancy, workplace technology, commercial property or a related sector.
An existing network among occupiers, developers, project managers, architects or MEP consultants.
Familiarity with RIBA stages, consultancy procurement and project-based sales cycles.
Experience with LinkedIn marketing, campaign measurement, content creation or workflow automation.
You do not need to be a technical designer. You will work closely with our specialists and develop a strong understanding of our services and the outcomes clients need.
