Blue Arrow are recruiting for Outdoor Campus Cleaning Operatives to work at a prestigious university based in Manchester City Centre. Hours of work are 7am – 2.30pm Monday – Friday with a 30-minute break at 12pm, totaling 35 hours a week. £12.66 per hour.
The main tasks include:
- Litter picking
- Emptying external waste/recycling bins
- External manual and mechanical cleaning/sweeping of the main campus
- Collection and disposal of syringes and other drug paraphernalia
- Removal and disposal of biological waste deposits
- Collection of redundant furniture
- Collection of electrical equipment (WEEE) and items such as fridges and freezers
- Collection of bulky items (including wood, pallets, packaging) and other items on request
- Collection of metals, glass products, paper, magazines, and polystyrene
- Cleaning of bin stores and bike shed areas, including removal/disposal/recycling of abandoned bikes and bike locks/chains
- Grit spreading and snow clearance in conjunction with Landscape Services staff
Ideally, candidates should have a clean driving licence and previous Cleaning or Grounds Maintenance experience. Road sweeping experience is desirable but not essential. Candidates must be comfortable working outside, as tasks include litter picking and emptying external bins. This is long-term work that may lead to a permanent position.
