Set in the main grounds of the park, Coram’s Fields Nursery provides one of the most unique childcare offers in London, delivering excellence through our qualified and highly experienced team and with the benefit of full access to our seven acre site. We are looking for an exceptional individual to become part of our dedicated team, to help deliver high quality childcare within our setting, playing an important role in the continuing growth and development of the Nursery.
Role Summary: The Deputy Manager will be responsible for working alongside the Nursery Manager to ensure the smooth day to day running of Coram’s Fields Nursery. They are the principal link between the Nursery Manager and our talented team of practitioners, coordinating and supervising the work of the team on Nursery ground to create a high quality, stimulating learning environment for all our children. The Deputy will play a key role in delivering the EYFS curriculum in our Nursery, using reflective practice to develop informed and creative strategies, that continually improve the quality and diversity of our offer for children.
Main Responsibilities:
- Create an Inclusive Environment: Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive setting for all children.
- Lead Activity Planning: Plan and deliver stimulating, age-appropriate activities while maintaining a creative and well-resourced environment.
- Ensure Compliance: Support the manager in meeting legal and regulatory requirements, including safeguarding, SEN, and health and safety.
- Monitor Child Development: Lead on observations and assessments, maintaining high-quality records and sharing progress with parents.
- Key Person Responsibilities: Build strong bonds with key children and guide colleagues in their key person roles.
- Engage Parents and Carers: Work in partnership with families to build trust and encourage active involvement in nursery life.
- Support Staff Development: Mentor team members through communication, delegation, training identification, and leading room meetings.
- Handle Complaints Confidentially: Contribute to resolving complaints or concerns professionally and discreetly.
- Model Professionalism: Act as a positive role model to both children and colleagues at all times.
- Collaborate and Adapt: Work flexibly within the team, support the management team, attend events, and contribute to policy improvements.
