Create an enduring connection with young person who is leaving care

Looking for a rewarding volunteering opportunity that fits around your other commitments? Want to help some of our most vulnerable young people and inspire them towards better, brighter things? If so, consider becoming an Enduring Connections Befriender. Our Enduring Connections project matches befrienders with care leavers in London who will benefit from a stable adult friend who will stand with the young person as they experience the challenges of life beyond the care system. We are looking for members of the community people who will commit to staying connected and developing a long-term relationship with young people as they leave care. They will share common interests and also open up new experiences and aspirations for the young people they meet with.

Enduring Connections is a project which matches befrienders from the community who will help young care leavers (aged 16-24) feel less isolated, increase their sense of self-worth, and provide vital support to help them achieve their potential. For many young people our befriender will be the only adult in their life who is not paid to care about them.

An Enduring Connections befriender is a responsible adult volunteer who befriends and supports a young person who is a care leaver. Befrienders create an enduring relationship with young people, providing a trusted adult friend who can support care leavers as they enter adult life. After a 12 month supported match we hope befrienders will continue an independent friendship with the young person while continuing to have ongoing access to Coram Voice’s expert advice, resources and group activities.

Befrienders will support the full diversity of care leavers including young refugees and migrants.
