Job Summary
Coram Voice is looking for an Advocate to join our team in London.
The role involves working directly with children and young people in, and on the edges of, care, providing them with advocacy support in the community and across a variety of settings.
The Advocate will empower and support children and young people to ensure their voices are heard within decision‑making processes that affect their lives and act as a capable ambassador for Coram Voice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct advocacy support to children and young people in a range of settings including secure units, training centres, psychiatric hospitals, residential special schools and children’s homes.
- Engage effectively with professionals, carers and other stakeholders to ensure the needs and views of children and young people are represented.
- Support children and young people in decision‑making processes, such as review meetings or complaints, and help them to communicate their concerns.
- Represent Coram Voice at external meetings and events, promoting the rights of children and young people.
Qualifications and Skills
- Transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
- Commitment to promoting the rights of young people.
- Minimum of an IAP City and Guilds Level3 or an IAQ City and Guilds Level4 in Advocacy (or equivalent experience).
- Training and DBS
All posts are subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
Successful candidates must complete a compulsory training programme which covers Advocacy (Advocacy in Action), Safeguarding and Diversity.
