We transform lives through the unique power of Shakespeare. Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation is a national cultural education charity that exists to instil curiosity and empathy, aspiration and self-esteem, literacy and teamwork - giving young people the confidence to stride onto whatever stage they choose. Each year thousands of young people from hundreds of primary, secondary and SEND schools across the country unite in our Theatre Festival. Months of preparation culminate in exhilarating performance evenings; young people performing Shakespeare in professional theatres, raising aspirations and unlocking the potential of students and teachers alike. In the past 25 years, we have worked with over 350,000 young people through our festival, supporting the wellbeing of students and promoting social inclusion all over the UK. On top of that, we offer our annual Film Festival, Workshops, and CPD sessions to students and teachers around the country.
Shakespeare Schools Theatre Festival - we host the largest youth drama Festival in the world, taking place in professional theatres across the UK. The Festival welcomes thousands of students aged 8-18 and hundreds of teachers from primary, secondary, SEND schools and Pupil Referral Units nationwide. CSSF facilitates this experience and supports schools by providing scripts and resources, CPD and over-the-phone support for teachers, and workshops and a performance venue experience for participating pupils.
Shakespeare Schools Film Festival - taking CSSF’s 25 years of experience working with schools on Shakespeare performances, and adding the expertise of our partner Into Film, building a project that develops children’s confidence, creativity and collaboration; and creates filmed outcomes which you can showcase, shout about and keep forever.
Bespoke Workshops – Every year, CSSF runs thrilling standalone workshops with thousands of young people in primary, secondary and SEND schools across the country. Fully customisable and designed to get participants working actively, leaving the group illuminated, energized and empowered to further explore Shakespeare's words.
Our objectives are:
- To promote life skills, social cohesion and ambition
