Salary: £54,802 to £58,552 pro rata (plus 5% HCLA allowance) depending on experience

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Advanced Pain Lead Clinician to provide clinical leadership, oversee high-quality service delivery, and support multidisciplinary teams in achieving outstanding outcomes for the people we support in the Mid South Essex Pain Service. As Lead Pain Clinician, you will play a pivotal role in shaping clinical practice, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of excellence. You will work collaboratively with operational leaders and clinical colleagues to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated clinician looking to combine hands‑on clinical expertise with strategic leadership and service development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and clinical leadership across the service.
  • Lead, supervise, and support a multidisciplinary team of clinicians.
  • Ensure clinical practice is evidence-based, safe, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee clinical governance, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support the assessment, planning, implementation, and review of care and treatment programmes.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and utilise data to drive service improvements.
  • Contribute to workforce development through coaching, mentoring, and supervision.
  • Build effective relationships with service users, families, commissioners, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure services deliver exceptional person-centred care and positive outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A recognised professional qualification and registration with the relevant governing body (e.g., HCPC, NMC, GMC, Social Work England).
  • Significant post-qualification clinical experience.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or managing clinical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred services.
  • The ability to inspire and develop others while driving continuous improvement.
