Coquet Trust are a registered charity set up in 1995 to provide support to people with learning disabilities and Autism, to enable them to live as independently as possible, where support is driven by the choice of the individual.

The role of our Northumberland Support Workers:

Our expectation at Coquet Trust is that you are committed to providing the highest possible standards of support to individuals, by keeping their needs and choices at the heart of your every action, and by encouraging them:

  • To undertake Positive Risk Taking through Active Support and Positive Behaviour Support.
  • To become active members of their local and wider communities, assisting toward paid employment or volunteering and generally making friendships.
  • By enabling the people we support in all aspects of their daily lives including; cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting and paying bills.
  • By supporting individuals to discover new interests, reach personal goals like travelling to new places and going on holiday.
  • By working proactively with their families and friends to build positive relationships.
  • By helping individuals to engage in a different hobby or leisure activity.

As well as providing physical and emotional support, depending on the role you may be needed to provide personal care, assist with taking or administering medication and support individuals with specific healthcare needs.

Requirements:

  • Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
  • PROACT SCIPr-UK training.
  • Autism and Learning Disability awareness.
  • Personality Disorder.
  • Epilepsy.
  • Eating and Swallowing difficulties.
  • Innate ability to be compassionate and patient.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and empowering individuals through Active Support.
  • Previous experience with supporting individuals with complex needs, for example; epilepsy, mental health conditions, learning and physical disabilities.
  • A clear written and verbal communication technique, along with basic IT skills and numerical ability.
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred.

Other Information:

  • Competitive hourly rate of £12.60.
  • Expected hours: 16 – 37 per week.
  • Schedule: day shift, night shift, Monday to Friday, weekend availability.
  • One location is short days with shifts at other locations to make up hours.
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (incl. bank holidays).
