About the Role: As an Advanced Operator, you’ll have a great understanding of all aspects of a production line operation, and the focus of your role will be on activities that require specific technical knowledge. You’ll have great experience within a Manufacturing or Packing production role, and we’ll provide you with additional training and support you need to become a workplace expert in this area gaining in-depth knowledge of operating specific machinery or equipment in your area.
Main Responsibilities:
- Respecting and adhering to standards in key areas such as health and safety, environment, hygiene, food safety and product quality assurance.
- Operating equipment to standard settings and monitoring to ensure it’s running correctly as well as monitoring regularly to ensure production targets are achieved.
- Dealing with production issues quickly and escalating more complex or high-risk issues.
- Performing autonomous and preventative maintenance to keep the equipment running efficiently.
- Carrying out first level breakdown activities and liaising with colleagues in the maintenance team for more complicated issues.
- As a workplace expert, train and coach team members to upskill and develop line capability with regards to equipment, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Engaging in proactive problem-solving activities and always looking for ways to improve the production operation.
This is a permanent position on an annualised hours’ contract basis working a rotating shift pattern of Mornings (6am – 2pm) and Afternoons (2pm – 10pm). This pattern may change in line with production requirements, so a flexible approach is key.
About You:
- Experience within a Manufacturing or Packing environment where you have been responsible for machinery or running production line equipment and a desire to learn new skills and develop your capabilities further.
- An understanding in the use of lean tools such as root cause analysis, 5S workplace organisation and the SMED change over process, ideally having used these or other lean practices in your previous roles.
- The confidence to work independently as well as part of a team - setting a great example to colleagues.
- An eye for detail.
- Great communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with key departments and support colleagues.
- A proactive approach taking accountability and responsibility for your actions.
- A flexible and adaptable mindset to respond effectively and efficiently to changing production requirements.
- The confidence to take the lead in problem-solving activities and in making decisions efficiently and effectively.
