This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic candidate to join and help lead a highly creative and vibrant department, either from an existing second in charge role or for a candidate seeking the opportunity to secure a promotion. Applications are welcome from an enthusiastic and student focused practitioner to help lead our Maths department. The Second in Charge of Maths will be allocated a Key Stage by their Curriculum Leader / SLT Line Manager for whom they will take responsibility for all areas of the Maths curriculum. Experience at KS5 level would be advantageous.

Responsibilities- Lead and develop the Maths department, including a specialist technician, and contribute to enhancing the teaching of Maths across Key Stages 3–5.
- Enthuse students with a love of learning Maths; act as an expert practitioner in the classroom.
- Provide excellent interpersonal skills with pupils and adults in and out of the classroom.
- Help monitor and develop quality assurance within the Department, including lesson observations, work scrutiny, student voice and learning walks.
- Use assessment to track progress throughout KS3, KS4 and KS5 and contribute to strategic planning to raise standards.
- Think strategically to inspire and promote high expectations to raise standards further.
- Promote and lead extra-curricular trips and activities as part of the department’s broader offer.
- The ability to enthuse students with a love of Maths and be an expert practitioner in the classroom.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with pupils and adults in and out of the classroom.
- A commitment to maintaining and developing high standards of achievement for learners of all abilities across all Key Stages.
