About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Toolmaker / Toolroom Technician to join our Engineering team at Coppice Alupack in Blackmill, Bridgend. This is a hands-on role focused on the maintenance, repair, and improvement of press tooling, while supporting production and contributing to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement activities. You'll be a practical, well-rounded engineer with strong problem-solving skills, capable of working independently while also collaborating closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair press tooling to support production requirements
- Operate manual lathes and milling machines
- Work with CNC milling machines and CAM systems
- Carry out surface grinding and precision engineering tasks
- Support fault-finding and quality improvement within a production environment
- Use and maintain accurate records of tooling and work completed
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in line with BRC accreditation
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety (HSE) requirements
- Complete Hazard Tags where required
- Actively support continuous improvement initiatives
- Carry out additional engineering duties as required to support the business

What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
- Background in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles
- Experience maintaining and repairing tooling
- Competent using manual lathes and milling machines
- Experience with CNC milling
- Understanding of Health & Safety requirements
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexible approach to meet business and departmental needs
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and manage priorities
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent manufacturing background
- Experience with CAM systems
- CMM training or experience
