The Opportunity
We are looking for a multi-skilled Engineering Support Technician to join our site-based engineering team in Tonypandy. This is a practical, hands-on role supporting the maintenance, repair and continuous improvement of electrical and mechanical equipment across a busy manufacturing environment. If you enjoy fault-finding, improving reliability, and working closely with production to keep things running smoothly, this role offers variety, responsibility, and long-term development.
What you will be doing
- Maintenance & Breakdown Response
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults
- Using schematics, manuals and diagnostic tools to identify root causes
- Ensuring breakdowns are resolved quickly and safely to minimise downtime
- Recording all maintenance and repair activity accurately for analysis and compliance
- Supporting equipment upgrades, automation projects and cost-reduction initiatives
- Applying root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys
- Taking part in CI activities using Lean principles
- Helping to improve reliability, efficiency and plant performance
- Working in line with electrical legislation and HSE requirements
- Adhering to BRC food packaging standards
- Completing hazard tags and maintaining safe systems of work
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards at all times
- Maintaining accurate records in line with ISO 9000
- Liaising with internal teams and suppliers for parts and materials
- Supporting audits and providing technical input where required
- Working closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams
- Providing technical support during problem-solving and improvement activities
- Playing a key role in reducing downtime and improving equipment uptime

What we are looking for
Essential
- Fully qualified Electrician with hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance experience
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Working knowledge of:
- PLCs
- Inverter drives
- Pneumatics and hydraulics
- Safety circuits
Desirable
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Lean, PPM and modern maintenance philosophies
