Senior Account Executive, Commercial Lines

Location: Livingston, NJ (4 days per week in office)
Compensation: $150,000+ Base Salary, plus benefits and PTO
Job Overview
Our client, an established independent insurance brokerage in Livingston, NJ, is hiring a Senior Account Executive to retain and grow an established commercial lines book. The focus is delivering and creating additional value for clients through deep insurance knowledge that supports long-term relationships, while meeting or exceeding annual sales and retention goals.
You will be the senior advisor your clients rely on: analyzing exposures, marketing to insurers for the best coverage and terms, and negotiating with underwriters to land competitive deals. This role also carries a leadership component, supervising 1 to 2 Account Executives.
Active New Jersey Property & Casualty Producer license and 10+ years of commercial lines experience required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain favorable relationships with new and existing clients and underwriters.
- Analyze insurance needs and market to insurers to secure optimal coverage and cost terms for property and casualty clients.
- Negotiate quotes and coverage with underwriters to obtain the most competitive terms.
- Input and maintain all client insurance data in the corporate agency management system (Applied Epic).
- Respond to exposure questions from underwriters and coverage questions from clients.
- Prepare proposals, coverage comparisons, schedules of insurance, underwriting schedules, and insurance applications.
- Supervise 1 to 2 Account Executives.
- Maintain active participation in associations and networking groups relevant to the book of business.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Maintain technical knowledge of insurance coverages, industry changes, emerging risks, coverage solutions, competition, and carriers that supports client advice and limits the agency’s E&O exposure.
- Familiarity across lines of coverage, with expertise in at least two of: General Liability, Property, Auto, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella/Excess, Crime, Cyber, D&O, Employment Practices Liability, Pollution, or Errors & Omissions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent organization, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Education, Experience & Licenses
- College degree or demonstrated equivalent work experience.
- Active New Jersey Property & Casualty Producer license.
- 10 or more years of commercial lines experience.
- Applied Epic preferred.
