Estimator / Buyer – Construction £40,000 – £45,000 based in Chertsey, Surrey We are looking for an experienced Estimator / Buyer with a construction background to join a well-established and successful business. This is a hands-on, office-based role responsible for estimating, preparing quotations, sourcing materials and managing purchasing for a range of construction projects. You will be involved from the initial customer enquiry through to procurement, delivery and completion, working closely with customers, suppliers and contractors. Responsibilities Preparing estimates, quotations and project costings Reviewing drawings, specifications and customer requirements Sourcing materials and obtaining supplier quotations Negotiating prices and lead times Raising and managing purchase orders Monitoring costs and project budgets Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and customers Coordinating materials and deliveries Managing changes to specifications and costs Supporting projects through to completion The ideal candidate You will have previous experience within construction or a closely related industry, with a strong background in estimating, purchasing or both. You will ideally have: Estimating and/or buying experience within construction Good commercial and negotiation skills Experience dealing with suppliers and subcontractors The ability to understand drawings and specifications Strong organisation and attention to detail Confidence dealing directly with customers and suppliers Good Microsoft Office skills This role would particularly suit someone from a construction, fit-out, refurbishment, interiors, building products or specialist subcontracting background.
