We’re looking for an HR Advisor to join our People Team in our head office in Wandsworth on a 1-year fixed term contract. The ideal candidate holds a CIPD Level 5 Qualification or similar and has 3 years of experience, preferably within the hospitality industry. This wide-ranging position would suit someone looking for a fast-paced role in HR in the hospitality industry, that will stretch them and which encourages them to use their problem-solving skills to find creative solutions when faced with challenges.
About Us: Pubs have been at the very heart of Young’s since the Company was established in 1831, and today we have over 270 pubs and hotels, from contemporary vibrant pubs to small warm and friendly traditional favourites at the heart of their community. We are looking for a HR Advisor to work behind the scenes in our HR team, primarily supporting our Operations Managers and General Managers.
Key responsibilities:
- Act as a key point of contact in providing HR/ER advice to managers at all levels as well as Head Office-based employees on a broad range of HR/ER matters including, but not limited to, discipline and dismissal, grievance, contracts, absence management, performance management, capability and sickness absence, family friendly policies, TUPE and restructure/redundancy.
- Attend hearings (face-to-face or virtual) to advise in person on more complex issues or matters being managed by senior personnel within the business.
- Recommend solutions that fit business needs to mitigate ER risks in line with best practice, demonstrating fairness, pragmatism and commercialism.
- Act as subject matter expert, coach managers in managing HR and ER matters in line with legislation, Company practice and general best practice.
- Ensure that all advice is compliant with both Company practice and procedures as well as current employment legislation and is consistently applied in all HR matters.
- Build effective relationships within the business to promote good employee relations across all sites and coach and support managers in taking responsibility for HR and ER management at their sites.
- Support the development of guidance, documentation and toolkits to enable excellence of service to the business.
- Provide structured training and/or ad hoc briefings to all levels of employee on employment matters.
Requirements:
- In-depth, current knowledge of UK employment legislation and best practice.
- Strong, effective communication skills, in person and in writing, with the ability to coach and challenge at all levels in the business.
- Ability to build trust and good working relationships.
- Excellent attention to detail, while working at pace.
- Experience in a similar environment.
- Able to balance the needs of the business with safeguarding our most important asset.
Qualifications:
- CIPD Level 5 (or similar)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience, ideally within the hospitality industry
