We’re looking for an experienced and reliable Plumber / Gas & Oil Engineer to join our team, working across domestic and commercial properties in Newtownabbey and the surrounding areas. This is a great opportunity for a skilled engineer who takes pride in their workmanship, enjoys fault-finding and problem-solving, and is confident working independently while delivering a professional service to customers.

The Role

As a Plumber / Gas & Oil Engineer, you’ll be responsible for a varied workload covering plumbing, heating and gas installations, servicing, repairs, maintenance and breakdowns. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out plumbing, heating and gas repairs and breakdowns
  • Diagnosing faults and identifying the most appropriate repairs
  • Installing, servicing and repairing gas-fired boilers and heating systems
  • Installing and maintaining hot water and central heating systems
  • Completing general plumbing repairs and installations
  • Carrying out planned maintenance and servicing work
  • Identifying and reporting any additional works required
  • Completing all relevant paperwork and gas certificates accurately
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and professional working environment
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with customers
  • Explaining work completed and any recommendations or further repairs required
  • Following all relevant health and safety requirements, regulations and company procedures

What We’re Looking For

To be considered for the role, you should have:

  • Proven experience as a Plumber / Heating Engineer
  • Experience carrying out installations, repairs and breakdowns
  • Relevant plumbing and heating qualifications
  • Appropriate Gas Safe registration and competence for the work being undertaken
  • Valid ACS qualifications relevant to domestic natural gas, including CCN1 and applicable appliance units such as CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1 and CPA1
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:

  • Gas boilers and central heating systems
  • Boiler replacements and heating installations
  • Unvented hot water systems
  • Heating controls and zoning
  • Pumps, valves and heating components
  • Commercial heating and plumbing systems
  • General domestic and commercial plumbing
  • Electrical fault-finding associated with heating systems
  • Oil boiler servicing and breakdowns
  • OFTEC qualifications or experience

Oil experience is desirable but not essential.
