An established business in the safe access and fall protection sector is seeking a Technical Manager to lead its technical capability and support the delivery of safe, compliant solutions.
A minimum of five years’ direct industry experience is essential. You’ll need strong practical knowledge of fall protection system design, installation and inspection, alongside the confidence to resolve complex technical challenges and advise colleagues and customers.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will become the business’s lead technical authority, working closely with Installation, Compliance, Design and Sales teams.
The role:
Provide technical leadership across permanent and temporary fall protection, façade access and safe access systems.
Review and approve technical designs, methodologies and engineering proposals.
Develop practical solutions for bespoke projects and support installation teams with technical issues on site.
Advise on inspections, testing, certification and remediation of non-compliant systems.
Interpret relevant legislation, British Standards and industry guidance, keeping colleagues informed of changes.
Review specifications and tender requirements, undertake site surveys and attend customer and design meetings.
Support System Technical Files, Examination Schemes, product development and testing.
Deliver technical training, mentor colleagues and contribute to audits and continuous improvement.
What we’re looking for:
At least five years’ experience in the work at height, fall protection or façade access industry.
Excellent understanding of fall protection design principles and product applications.
Strong working knowledge of relevant standards, including BS 7883, BS 8610, BS EN 795, BS EN ISO 14122, BS 4211, BS EN 353 and BS EN 365.
Sound knowledge of the Work at Height Regulations, CDM Regulations and LOLER.
Experience with System Technical Files and permanent and temporary fall protection systems.
CAD experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The ability to explain technical requirements clearly to customers, colleagues and external stakeholders.
A full UK driving licence, willingness to travel nationally and eligibility to work in the UK.
NEBOSH, an Engineering degree or HNC/HND, experience producing engineering calculations, and a background in product development or testing would be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to take a central technical leadership role, work closely with senior management and directly influence the business’s technical standards, project delivery and continued growth.
