The role:

We are seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager (Substation PM) to lead the development and delivery of the Onshore Substation, Offshore Substation and associated grid connection infrastructure for a confidential UK Offshore Wind Farm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the Substation package, including design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. The role requires close collaboration with National Grid, contractors, regulatory authorities, project partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful integration of the wind farm into the UK transmission network.

This role will be part of the EPC Project Team and report directly to the Transmission Director.

The project office is expected to be based in London. However, the successful candidate will not be required to work from London every day, and flexible working arrangements will apply in line with project needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the delivery of the Onshore and Offshore Substation packages from detailed design through commissioning and handover.
• Manage engineering, procurement, construction, testing, energisation, and operational readiness activities.
• Oversee all suppliers, consultants, and contractors involved in the Substation scope.
• Manage interfaces with offshore inter-array and export cable systems, National Grid connection works, and wider project delivery teams.
• Ensure compliance with UK transmission system requirements and grid connection standards.
• Coordinate with National Grid and relevant regulatory bodies throughout project delivery.
• Monitor package schedule, budget, risks, opportunities, and contractor performance.
• Lead project reporting, governance, and decision-making forums.
• Manage technical reviews and design assurance processes.
• Drive effective stakeholder engagement with local authorities, landowners, contractors, utility stakeholders, and project partners.
• Promote world-class health and safety, environmental, and quality performance throughout execution.
• Ensure successful commissioning, energisation, and handover of the completed asset.

Your experience:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
• Extensive experience delivering high-voltage electrical infrastructure, substations, transmission systems, or major energy projects.
• Experience working on offshore wind, power transmission, grid infrastructure, or major utility projects.
• Strong knowledge of UK transmission systems and substation delivery.
• Familiarity with National Grid requirements and grid connection processes.
• Experience delivering EPC contracts and managing complex contractor relationships.
• Excellent commercial, contractual, and risk management skills.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project organisation.
• Strong commitment to safe and sustainable project delivery.
