Ongoing requirement for multiple engineers to provide Weapon Systems Engineering Support for a consultancy supporting a major defence client across Bristol or Stevenage.

Working a minimum of 3 days per week on site, the roles are offered on an outside IR35 basis between £46-56p/h LTD.

Typical Activity

Report the technical status and progression of assigned work packages; Own and develop the technical requirements for key weapon system equipment Inc. solution roadmap, fitness for purpose and obsolescence plan; Deliver the equipment solutions for weapon system products to the internal and external customers, working closely with national and international Design Authorities and Customers.

This will include support to development of the following:

  • Mechanical and environment constraints;
  • Functional performance relevant to the applied application;
  • Interface definitions;
  • Power architecture definitions;
  • Communication architecture definitions;
  • Electrical, bonding, grounding & screening requirements;
  • Understand the technical capability required for adherence to relevant commercial, military and safety standards, including how the user will interact with any platform specific controls;
  • Deliver verification and validation strategies for the electrical, mechanical, software and transversal properties of a system or subsystem to support system level certification of the Weapon System for trials or delivery;
  • Facilitate the exchange of technical information from the internal or external supply base and assess as required against the requirement specification;

Skills and Experience:

  • Well rounded behaviours to enable stakeholder engagement;
  • Time, cost and quality conscious, within appropriate project trades;
  • Requirements and certification engineering;
  • Exposure to multiple stages of the engineering lifecycle beneficial to anticipate project needs;
  • Understand programme risks and mitigation strategies Inc. long term obsolescence resolution for in-service product;
  • Breadth of engineering knowledge with maybe 1-2 specialisations e.g. electrical, mechanical, computing.
