In this role you will perform structural analysis to support the design and validation of aerospace structures. You will work within a cross-functional team across Defence, Security and Space, applying FEA to metal and composite parts and influencing design through substantiation. You will handle a full lifecycle from concept to testing, delivering robust analyses and clear reports. Responsibilities
- Carry out static strength analysis for metallic and composite aerospace structures
- Develop, run and post-process FEA models using Nastran, ANSYS and Altair
- Analyze components, sub-assemblies and full airframe load cases
- Produce high-quality stress reports and structural substantiation
- Support structural testing with predictive analysis and test-result correlation
- Apply industry references (Roark, Niu, Bruhn, MMPDS, ESDU)
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, test teams, customers and suppliers
- Plan and manage own workload, estimates and delivery timescales
Key requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
- Relevant structural analysis experience
- Experience or familiarity with FEA and CAD tools
- Working knowledge of metallic and composite materials
- Understanding of fatigue and damage tolerance principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proactive with ownership of work
