Copello is delighted to be working with a leading defence organisation to recruit a Quality Assurance Engineer to join their Quality Assurance Equipment Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to support a diverse range of electronic equipment in development, playing a key role in ensuring product quality, compliance and customer satisfaction.
Salary: Circa £40,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Stevenage (relocation support may be available)
Working Pattern: Hybrid – typically 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: Applicants must be British citizens or dual UK nationals with British citizenship. Successful candidates will be required to undergo BPSS clearance as part of the onboarding process.

The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to join an established Quality Assurance team embedded within Electronic Engineering. You will work closely with major project stakeholders and Product Assurance Managers to ensure that core QA activities are delivered effectively. The focus will be on preventing and minimising non-conformance, supporting smooth equipment delivery, assuring product reliability and ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, contributing to and maintaining equipment quality planning documentation
- Ensuring compliance with Electronic Engineering business management system (BMS) procedures
- Planning and supporting Product Life Cycle reviews and managing resulting actions
- Managing product non-conformance, including facilitating non-conformance processes and supporting design and manufacturing investigations
- Producing non-conformance data analysis and summary reports for senior management and major equipment reviews
- Proactively identifying, communicating and mitigating quality risks and issues
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, including local audits and process improvement activities
- Planning and delivering quality-focused micro-training to improve process awareness, efficiency and capability across engineering teams
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering or Quality Assurance, or significant relevant industry experience
- Proven experience in a Quality Assurance role, ideally within Electronic Engineering
- Strong working knowledge of QA problem-solving and improvement methodologies (8D, RCA, DMAIC, etc.)
- Good understanding of the product lifecycle, particularly within development environments
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using Excel, SAP QM systems and document management tools
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and process excellence
