Copello are supporting a leading Defence client in their search for a Mechanical Technician to join their team. You’ll work in a fast paced environment, contributing to the inspection and certification of a wide range of mechanical hardware, from small fixtures to complex defence systems.

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that our hardware is manufactured to the highest quality and design standards, supporting programmes to meet performance, cost, and schedule targets.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect and certify mechanical builds to drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace, following all 5S principles.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities meet time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Control and process any non-conformances correctly.
  • Complete and certify all relevant manufacturing documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Contribute feedback to improve manufacturing processes and outcomes.
  • Maintain excellent workmanship standards and consistently deliver high-quality results.

What we’re looking for

Essential qualifications:

  • Advanced Level or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.
  • Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, Diploma, etc.) in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.
  • Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ) in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.

Skills and experience:

  • Strong ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and planning instructions.
  • Experience inspecting mechanical hardware for damage and build integrity.
  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to consistently produce work to exceptional standards.
  • Aware of ESD/FOD best practices (an advantage).
  • Flexible, proactive, and adaptable approach to work.
