Copello are supporting a leading Defence client in their search for a Mechanical Technician to join their team. You’ll work in a fast paced environment, contributing to the inspection and certification of a wide range of mechanical hardware, from small fixtures to complex defence systems.
You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that our hardware is manufactured to the highest quality and design standards, supporting programmes to meet performance, cost, and schedule targets.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect and certify mechanical builds to drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Maintain a safe and organized workspace, following all 5S principles.
- Ensure all manufacturing activities meet time, cost, and quality requirements.
- Control and process any non-conformances correctly.
- Complete and certify all relevant manufacturing documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
- Contribute feedback to improve manufacturing processes and outcomes.
- Maintain excellent workmanship standards and consistently deliver high-quality results.
What we’re looking for
Essential qualifications:
- Advanced Level or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.
- Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, Diploma, etc.) in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.
- Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ) in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.
Skills and experience:
- Strong ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and planning instructions.
- Experience inspecting mechanical hardware for damage and build integrity.
- High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Ability to consistently produce work to exceptional standards.
- Aware of ESD/FOD best practices (an advantage).
- Flexible, proactive, and adaptable approach to work.
