An established engineering and technology organisation operating within the aerospace and defence sector is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to join its Configuration Management team. This role will play a key part in ensuring configuration management processes are consistently applied across complex engineering programmes throughout the product lifecycle.
You will be working within a dedicated Configuration Management function, collaborating closely with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure configuration requirements are effectively managed and controlled throughout programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure Configuration Management (CM) requirements are implemented and maintained across multiple projects and programmes.
- Work with customers and internal stakeholders to interpret and apply CM specifications and requirements.
- Provide Configuration Management guidance and support to engineering, manufacturing, and project teams.
- Act as the focal point for documentation control and configuration governance activities.
- Support bid and proposal activities through the generation of Configuration Management estimates and plans.
- Monitor project status and configuration data within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Contribute to resource planning, process improvement initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
- Support internal and external audits relating to Configuration Management processes and standards.
- Previous Configuration Management experience within the aerospace sector.
- Strong understanding of Configuration Management principles, processes, and governance.
- Experience applying recognised industry Configuration Management standards.
- Knowledge of the CMII process models.
- Experience with configuration identification, change control, and status accounting activities.
- Understanding of engineering, manufacturing, and full product lifecycle environments.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external customers.
