Copello are working with a leading organisation in the marine sector to recruit a Sales Manager to support the growth and development of their marine sales activities. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in strengthening market presence, particularly across the Ferry and Dredger segments. This position will focus on developing key customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and leading sales activities through to successful deal closure. The role reports into the General Manager of Sales (UK & Ireland) and is based in the South of England.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and prospective customers to drive sales of products, services, and solutions.
- Manage and develop key owner accounts in line with strategic objectives.
- Lead and/or contribute to sales projects within your area of responsibility, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
- Work closely with senior leadership to set targets and review performance.
- Develop and implement effective sales action plans.
- Expand presence within the local market, particularly among shipowners, to grow the installed base.
- Maintain an accurate CRM pipeline in line with company guidelines and produce timely visit reports.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer operations to deliver tailored, value-driven solutions.
- Conduct regular customer visits, engaging key stakeholders and presenting the full product portfolio effectively.
- Support customers with maintenance budget planning where applicable.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sales Manager with a strong track record of delivering results.
- Commercially driven, with the ability to grow business while maintaining profitability.
- Strong consultative and negotiation skills, both technical and commercial, with the ability to close deals.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Confident presenter, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
- Strong team player with the ability to contribute to and build high-performing teams.
- Comfortable working in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Experience within marine engineering and/or shipowner sales is advantageous.
- Knowledge of marine power systems, propulsion, and electrical systems is desirable.
- Fluent in English.
Education
- Degree qualified (ideally in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering).
Experience
- Background in marine engineering or a related environment.
- Previous experience working within the marine sector.
- Demonstrable sales experience.
