Opportunity: Copello is partnering with a Defence client to recruit a Principal Control Systems Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will use your expertise in PLC and SCADA systems to design, develop, and support advanced control and HCI solutions for naval platform management systems. This is your chance to work on high integrity systems in a secure, highly regulated defence environment, contributing directly to operational capability and national security.
Responsibilities
- Capture and interpret customer requirements
- Design, code, and test PLC control systems
- Manage data communications with third party equipment
- Develop software from design documents (Block Diagrams, Flow Charts, Pseudo Code)
- Produce technical documentation
- Validate and test software designs
- Support project meetings, proposals, and change control
Qualifications
- 5+ years' PLC engineering experience
- Expertise in Fault Tolerant, High Availability, and Safety Integrated PLCs
- Strong knowledge of Profibus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, ModBus, TCP/IP, UDP, ASCII
- Experience with SCADA/PLC interfacing and driver configuration
- Understanding of software lifecycles, testing, and commissioning
- Degree/HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronic, C&I, or Systems Engineering
- Experience in Defence, Maritime, Aerospace, or similar regulated industries
