I am currently looking for a Data Engineer to work onsite for a Defence company in Gloucester.
Please note: suitable candidates must hold current transferrable UKIC DV clearance. This role will also require 5 days working onsite (no option to work remotely).
Location: Gloucester / Customer Site - No Hybrid Working
Duration: Until the 31/03/2027
Day Rate: £(Apply online only) per day Inside IR35 dependant on experience
Clearance: Candidates should hold a current transferable UKIC DV, a BPSS check will also be undertaken

Scope of Work:
- To work in a customer based team on the priorities set at the planning event. This may include development of new features, support requests and sustainment tasks for the customer’s Geo analytics and pipelines.
- In parallel, the resource will also be involved in a system refresh.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Providing direction/guidance within the scrum team
- Liaise with the Technical Lead
- Be able to help the scrum team decompose epics and stories.
- Writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach
- Create code that is open by default and easy for others to reuse
- Produce detailed designs
- Effectively document all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate
- Work with well understood and emerging technologies and identify appropriate patterns
- Maintain and develop existing architectural components
- Participate in sprint ceremonies with the agile team, attending daily stand-ups, epic decomposition, demos and planning sessions.
- Assist the wider team to understand upcoming features and their impact.
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Java, Apache Pig or Python
- Self-driven
