6 month contract (Inside IR35) – 40 hours p/week Hybrid (3 days p/week on site) from either – Epsom, London, Peterborough or Cambridge. Shape the future of cities and environments through the delivery of critical infrastructure projects within the UK Water sector. We are seeking an energetic and experienced Electrical Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary Design & Advanced Technology team delivering innovative and technically challenging projects for Water industry clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on transformational infrastructure programmes across the UK, supporting projects throughout the full lifecycle including concept, detailed design, client support, and construction phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate or manage a team of Electrical & ICA engineers delivering technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects in line with client specifications, industry standards, and project requirements.
- Lead the production of technical deliverables including:
- Single Line Diagrams
- Cable Block Diagrams
- Load Schedules
- MCC Specifications
- Control Philosophies
- Control Network Architecture
- Provide technical input into electrical design deliverables while supporting project teams in managing budgets, timelines, and key milestones.
- Collaborate closely with clients, operational teams, project stakeholders, and wider engineering disciplines.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of Electrical & ICA capability across the wider team.
- Work independently with minimal technical supervision, applying sound engineering judgement to solve complex problems.
- Support bid and tender submissions with technical expertise.
- Work collaboratively with UK and international multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance processes, including checking and reviewing design outputs.
Essential
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Experience delivering electrical engineering design within industrial and process environments.
- Proven experience coordinating or managing electrical engineering design teams within a consultancy or multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in electrical design.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practice, including WIMES and relevant water industry design codes.
- Understanding of:
- HAZOP assessments
- Lightning protection risk assessments
- Earthing and bonding
- Lighting design
- DSEAR and ATEX installation practices
- Experience using electrical design software such as Trimble/Amtech.
- Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly across diverse teams.
