Senior Project Manager Salary: Circa £50,000–£60,000 depending on experience Location: Hertfordshire based 2–3 days per week on-site Security Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship As a minimum, successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks. The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a growing engineering and project delivery environment, taking ownership of complex projects and supporting the successful delivery of strategically important programmes. This is a varied opportunity suited to an experienced Project Manager who can operate confidently across complex project delivery, bids, tenders and new business activity. You could come from a traditional project management background, or have developed strong project leadership experience within an engineering, manufacturing, defence or other technically complex environment. You will work closely with engineering, commercial, technical and business stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, on cost and to the required quality, whilst identifying and managing risks, opportunities and dependencies. The role offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects, engage with senior stakeholders and contribute to both the delivery of existing programmes and the development of future business. What you'll be doing * Leading complex engineering and business projects from definition through to successful delivery * Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, budgets and resource requirements * Managing project risks, opportunities, dependencies and change throughout the project lifecycle * Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate technical and commercial activity * Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders * Providing clear project reporting, identifying issues and driving appropriate actions * Supporting bids, tenders and new business opportunities, including estimating, planning and developing delivery approaches * Working with stakeholders to understand customer requirements and translate these into achievable project plans * Identifying opportunities to improve project delivery processes and embed effective project management practices * Supporting the development of less experienced project managers and colleagues where appropriate What we're looking for We're interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers from a range of backgrounds, particularly those who have experience in one or more of the following: * Complex engineering, technical or product development projects * Project or programme management within defence, aerospace, manufacturing or another highly regulated industry * Leading projects involving multiple technical disciplines and stakeholders * Bid management, tendering, estimating or new business development * Managing project budgets, schedules, resources, risks and opportunities * Customer-facing project delivery and stakeholder management * Developing project plans and delivery strategies for new opportunities * Delivering projects in environments where requirements, priorities or scope can evolve You will also need: * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills * The confidence to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels * Strong commercial and business awareness * A structured and analytical approach to solving complex problems * The ability to make sound decisions and take ownership of delivery * Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities * A collaborative approach to working across multidisciplinary teams * Resilience and adaptability when working in complex or ambiguous environments What we can offer you * Company bonus * Pension: Maximum total employer and employee contribution of up to 14% * Overtime: Opportunity for paid overtime * Enhanced parental leave: Up to 26 weeks for maternity, adoption and shared parental leave, with further enhancements available Why join?
