Copello is working with a leading defence engineering organisation to recruit a Quality Assurance Engineer into their Bristol-based Product Assurance Software Quality team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop QA skills while working as part of a wider Product Assurance community on complex, safety-critical software programmes.
Salary: Circa £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Bristol
Working pattern: Dynamic (hybrid) working, with 2-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizenship required. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. Successful candidates will be required to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks after offer stage.
The opportunity: This role sits within a Software Quality Assurance team supporting engineering programmes that deliver high-integrity, safety-critical systems. You will work closely with software teams across the organisation, helping to ensure robust processes, compliance with standards, and delivery of high-quality software products. What we’re looking for:
- Experience in software development and/or software quality assurance across the full lifecycle
- Knowledge of software processes, including national and international standards and assurance requirements
- Auditing experience (desirable but not essential)
- Ability to build effective working relationships across multiple teams and programmes
- A collaborative but objective mindset, with confidence to challenge and influence where needed
- Experience leading Project Quality Assessments, identifying risks and critical issues, and contributing to monthly reporting
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of an integrated, functional team
- An Engineering degree or equivalent experience, with an understanding of modern technologies
- Experience or knowledge of configuration management, documentation control, and requirements management systems is highly beneficial
