The Opportunity
Copello are supporting a leading Defence client in their search for a Test & Testability Expert to play a key role in shaping how systems are tested across their full lifecycle — from early concept through to production and in-service support. You’ll report into the Head of Test & Testability, with strong project links to the Project Chief Design Engineer, and act as a Subject Matter Expert across multiple programmes. As part of the Test & Testability Architecture team, you’ll help define smarter test strategies, improve Built-In Test architectures, and raise the quality and consistency of test specifications across projects — removing waste and focusing effort where it adds real value. This is a senior, influential role where your technical expertise will directly shape product quality, efficiency, and ways of working.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and define project test strategies and BIT architectures, including coverage requirements
- Improve how test equipment requirements and specifications are written across programmes
- Lead analysis of production test data to identify trends and diagnose failures
- Model and analyse system test coverage and generate diagnostic instructions
- Drive continuous improvement in ways of working across Test & Testability
- Support Red Team reviews and critical issue resolution during development and manufacture
- Support new product bids and early feasibility studies
- Identify, document, and deploy best practice across the department
- Mentor and support engineers within the Test & Testability team
- Contribute to and lead technology and capability roadmaps
What We’re Looking For
- Degree-level education (or equivalent experience)
- Significant experience in electronic test across the full project lifecycle
- Strong background in:
- Electronic circuit design, test, and failure analysis
- Test equipment design
- Requirements capture and specification
- Design for Test (DfT) and testability
