Nuclear Safety Case Engineer

Must be a sole British national and eligible for SC clearance due to project requirements

Permanent | Remote working (2 days a quarter in Cumbria) | £60,000+ (DOE)

Copello are working with a leading defence and engineering organisation to recruit a Nuclear Safety Case Engineer to join a long-term programme at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear sector.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in high-integrity, regulated environments and wants to take real ownership of key safety deliverables. You’ll be part of a team that directly supports the development and ongoing assurance of nuclear safety cases — working closely with Engineering, Human Factors and Site Safety teams to keep standards high and the plant safe.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Writing and reviewing nuclear substantiation and safety case documentation
  • Supporting periodic reviews and safety case implementation
  • Leading on your own deliverables and contributing to the wider team’s development
  • Engaging with stakeholders across technical and operational functions
  • Reviewing analysis, calculations and other supporting evidence for safety justifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Background in nuclear safety, safety case development, or substantiation work
  • Experience in a regulated or high-hazard industry (nuclear, defence, etc.)
  • Confident producing well-structured technical reports
  • Comfortable collaborating with engineering and assurance teams
  • Degree-qualified in a STEM subject
